Water can and will damage anything in its path.

Water losses are almost never something you can foresee. Especially when it comes to your washer supply line breaking and causing nearly 200,000 gallons of water to flood their home. While the home can be saved with a quick enough response team, some furniture may not. 

You always want to ensure that your most valuable items are up and secure away from possible flood or water intrusion that way occur. Keeping filing cabinets away from walls, ensure all contents are picked up and put away, and any important documents or memorabilia should be stored in a safe place away from flood levels.
