Where is this water coming from??

2/5/2020 (Permalink)

Rockpile had caused water to begin entering the building through an exterior wall affecting multiple rooms!

It was a busy Tuesday for this SERVPRO office due to a Monday full of rain, when we received a call from a local city office.

Help, there is water coming into our building and we do not know where it is coming from. This is something that we here more often than not. Usually we find the source of the water is from inside the building.

This was not the case with this city office. We received the call early in the morning. We had yet to finish our coffee! But that does not stop SERVPRO from having an onsite time of less than two hours. In this case, it was about 25 minutes.

When we arrived onsite we first checked inside the building to find the source. With no luck we went to the exterior of the building. On the side of the building we found a rock pile that had been placed right next to an exterior wall of the building.

This rockpile was causing the water to pool around the foundation. OH NO! We are SERVPRO do much more than just demolition and drying. Sometimes our jobs consist of digging trenches to free water from trapped spaces.

That is exactly what we did for this facility. We created a trench to drain the water into an adjacent parking lot.

Within 2 hours of receiving the call we had found the source, fixed the problem, extracted standing water inside, and setup equipment to begin drying.
